The Wittnauer 7004A is a perpetual favourite amongst vintage collectors, especially those who have just gotten into collecting. There are a few reasons for this with the biggest one being the immense value offered. Usually, a 40mm sports chronograph with a bezel and a dial full of lume would command high prices, but as many of these Wittnauers were made, this high-quality vintage piece can be had for a real bargain.
The size is a large part of its appeal as even for today's standards it is considered a large watch. It has huge presence on the wrist with its muscular angled lugs and rotatable bezel. Furthermore, this Wittnauer 7004A is instantly recognisable as it has a bright red bezel. This example though, has developed a rich maroon tone as the bezel has discoloured over the years, adding to its uniqueness.
The matte dial, with lume hour markers and thick hands also filled with lume completes the look, rounding off what is a characteristically 70’s sports chronograph that is unmistakably Wittnauer.
