The Rolex Submariner is one of the most recognisable and popular watches in the world, and like most Rolexes, needs no introduction. The Ref. 5513 is a perennial favourite amongst vintage collectors and known as the reference to collect due to its relatively accessible price point and variants in dial production.
This example is one of the more desirable 5513s, fitted with what is known as a ‘Maxi Mk V’ dial. It is named maxi due to its larger than usual lume plots and I do admit, I myself am a fan of Maxi dials as the large plots really make the dial pop.
With its black aluminium rotatable bezel, thick bevelled stainless steel Oyster case, matte black Maxi dial and Oyster bracelet, the Ref. 5513 is without a doubt, one of the most attractive dive watches of all time. For every vintage watch collector, this reference is a must.
