Shell Cordovan, famous for being used on high-end shoes, has of late been a favourite to make watch straps with. These straps are tanned at the Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois and it is perhaps one of the most famous places to produce shell cordovan. Crafted into straps by Jean-Paul Menicucci, the benefits of shell cordovan is that it is able to be cut thin for an elegant profile, yet maintain its robust characteristics. It is one of the most difficult and expensive leathers to make, partly due to its amazing qualities. It has a unique non-creasing characteristic, exceptional durability, and over time these straps will develop a beautiful patina.
These straps will suit your dress watches but are equally adept on a vintage sport watch- seriously versatile!
