The Certina DS Diver is one of the coolest divers of the 20th century, epitomising an era of exploration and functional design. First introduced in the late 50’s, DS stood for ‘Double Security’, referencing the shock and water resistant capabilities of the watch.
With every watch brand at the time looking to add a diver to their range of watches, Certina was one that stood out, with their striking DS Diver. Housed in a 36mm stainless steel case produced by Huguenin Freres and featuring twisted angular lugs, the DS Diver sits on the wrist fantastically and wears larger than its diameter suggests.
What makes this particular Certina so special is that the glossy gilt dial has aged into a beautiful tropical tone overtime, complemented by the deep pumpkin patina of the hour markers and hands. Top this off with the original Gay Freres produced stainless steel bracelet, what you get is perhaps the quintessential mid century diver that is both as good looking as it is rare.
